Travel softball is designed for players that are passionate about the game of softball and those who are committed to working towards development and advancement to higher levels of competition. If your desire is to play Travel softball, the expectation is that you will be fully committed during the season.
The Travel softball season begins in late-April and ends in early-July. Travel teams will typically practice two times per week and will play double-headers one night of the week (varies by age group). In addition, Travel teams will play 2-3 weekend tournaments during the regular season, plus a year-end Qualifier and State tournament.
Playing time and position rotations during Travel League games will be equal. However, when participating in tournaments, Travel teams are held to a higher standard and the WYSA grants our coaches discretion when determining the line-up and player positions, especially at key positions, such as: pitcher, catcher, first base.
If you have a strong desire to have your daughter play at a higher level than her current age group, she must be present and both her current and the older age group tryouts. Furthermore, she must score in the top-4 players at both age groups in order to be allowed to move up.
Travel team tryouts are scheduled for Sunday, March 1st and Monday, March 2nd. To be considered eligible for participation on a Travel team, you must be present for at least one of these tryout sessions. Show up at least 15 minutes early to check in.
